after 20 years of experience, gary martin couldnt resist a 12 inch that is also the 50th release for teknotika: a label from detroit that didnt exactly stick with the game when it switched to the mp3 format. *basking in blackness* is a composition of textured broken beat then classic four on the floor old school soul. *synthotika* is what would happen if a synthasizer could take over an orchestra. a track inspired by detroit peers no doubt. *every bit as beautiful* goes sensative deep house piano, a lil latin percussion and soaring eno-esque synths to top it off. the title is a bit sarcastic, let us face it, there is no life after techno!

following on from killawatts bring down the walls ep at the tail end of last year osiris music continues to expand their sonic boundaries as they move in 2014, with their first release of the year coming in the form of sleepers simulation theory ep. experimenting for the very first time with fm synthesis, the ep features seven tracks of thunderous production the majority of sounds for which sleeper drew from a mere four oscillators in a bid to recalibrate his production skills. the resulting record is far more than the sum of its component parts and, save for the skulking, static soaked tension of meth, moves with relentless force and purpose throughout. the simulation theory ep sees sleeper taking his already deft grasp of both dubstep and techno production and fusing them to a body of pummelling forward momentum perfectly suited to set osiris music off on what promises to be a bold and progressive year.

the third in the modular techno series from live analogue artist and freerotation organiser steevio. after 15 years of producing techno live on hardware, in 2009 steevio began building a dedicated machine on which he could totally improvise an entire techno performance from a blank canvas that far surpassed anything he could do with his previous setup of drum machines and synthesizers. steevio’s modular is 100 analogue, there is no computer involved, there are no memories to save sounds or sequencing patterns, and everything is improvised in real time.. volumes 1 and 2 of the series were just a taster of what was to come, and were the early experimentations on steevio’s newly built machine. steevio records everything he does, especially during the intense practice sessions for live gigs. all the music in the series are out-takes from these practice sessions, and the tracks from volume 3 and the forthcoming volume 4 all come from a three day period in practice for a recent live gig at delete, bournemouth, uk. volume 3 continues from where volume 2 left off but delivered with more confidence and a deeper more hypnotic feel. steevio continues to develop his skills and fine tunes his unique instrument in this dedicated for life project.
2017 reissue .. bang (the underground doesnt stop) is a dancefloor anthem, magnificent and pure chicago circa 1998. boom (chakolak) takes you way back to the southside with its gritty footwork 909 kicks, snares and vocal loops, massive! beat (da boxx) is a pure garnier, dancemania inspired techno monster. the loop is finally complete, garnier can now hop on flight af 0490 direct from paris to chicago to bang the box once more.

touching upon dance musiculatory milestones like detroit techno and electro, nsyde007 sees tyon, a well-known but besides this moniker for now anonymous traveller, summoning up atmospheres totally his own. this is space music. but not in the ra sense. take the a-side flaw 11, for instance. this is space music in the way it catapults you out, like the most terrible mistake made by man-machine, into the farthest reaches of an ever faster expanding universe, dark energy tearing at your nipples until they rip off, resemblances of melody orchestrating the drama/bliss of event horizon passage. its dark yet beautiful, like the smile on a dying persons face, and a heavily psychedelic trip at that – but fear not! you won’t be subjected to any despicable noodleage here, just to weird, intensely warped sounds you want to dance your ass off to. make it fat on the other side is the sci-fi equivalent to hänsel und gretel: a perpetuating feeding of the child-to-be-eaten. the finest in andromeda’s hyper-fattening molecular cuisine gets crammed into the gagging brat as doom is looming over its forehead. and with every spoon thats being recklessly punched into the poor little demon’s face it is getting closer to its, as well as the dancers ultimate goal: total nirvana. pressed on black vinyl.
